Bulgarian Dance Workshop with Nina Kavardjikova

Nina Kavardjikova Workshops

Enjoy a Bulgarian folk dance workshop with the charming Nina Kavardjikova. Nina will also teach a second Bulgarian folk dance workshop on the following day, Saturday, at this location.

Nina will teach different dances at each workshop. Review of selected Friday’s dances may be possible on Saturday.

Special guest musician Bill Cope will play for dancing after Nina’s workshop.

8:00 pm: Doors open. Warm up dances
8:30 – 10:30: Dance Workshop with Nina
10:30 – 11:00: Review

Nina Kavardjikova

Nina Kavardjikova

Nina Kavardjikova was born in northern Bulgaria and was a professional dancer, touring the world as a principal dancer with the Bulgarian Trakia State Folk Ensemble. She is particularly interested in Bulgarian village dancing and music. She is a Bulgarian folklore and traditional dance instructor, choreographer, and researcher. Nina is much sought after world-wide as one of the finest Bulgarian dancers. She is renowned for her exquisitely elegant and dynamic teaching. Nina is a patient teacher with an excellent command of English.

Nina has choreographed and taught in Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In the United States, Nina has taught at the Chicago Spring Festival, Stockton Folk Dance Camp and at Kolo Festival.

Bill Cope is a well-known local musician renowned for his skill on many ethnic instruments, including tambura, accordion and gajda.
